Day 15: A song you like that’s a cover by another artist

James – Sunday Morning

I don’t really know who this is — try searching “James”on your favorite search engine.  This version of “Sunday Morning” is from a Velvet Underground tribute album, Heaven and Hell, Part 1.  It was originally released on cassette tape, which I have, and was a much-coveted, rare thing for a long time.   Then re-issue came along to wipe out my wealth.  I own the CD, too.  It’s not the only thing I’ve had that was worth a fortune, before being screwed.

C’est la vie.

Anyway, the cover:  the medley at the end is boss.  Mostly, I love the song.

I love the Velvet Underground.  They will be featured again on this 30-day challenge, and again and again and again at CommunityNoise.blog.

Interested in music from 1950s to the present, mostly indie bands and punk, but also avant garde, blues, Motown ... almost but not quite, anything. I'm looking for people to share music, new and old, and looking for new avenues to discovery new music. Come with me.

  1. Well, I’ve had two covers already before in this 30-day challenge here and if you’ll like to come on over to my blog you’ll find I post a lot of covers but newest one just has to be when Xiu Xiu takes on ZZ Top’s Sharp Dressed Man!
