Day 12: A song from your preteen year

Four Seasons – “Oh What a Night”

I remember when this came out, and I was listening to it on my AM radio.  I’d try to sing it, but could never remember the words just right.  (That’s an on-going problem.)  I was re-united with the song a couple of years ago watching the movie, Jersey Boys.  I really like this song.

There’s a lot going on.  As always with The Four Seasons, there’s a lot of vocal range with all the singers taking their parts.  But dig the falsetto voice on the bass player (“And I felt a rush like a rolling ball of thunder / Spinning my head around and taking my body under”); plus, just after, the groovy base lines he’s plugging in!  Cool.

Interested in music from 1950s to the present, mostly indie bands and punk, but also avant garde, blues, Motown ... almost but not quite, anything. I'm looking for people to share music, new and old, and looking for new avenues to discovery new music. Come with me.

  1. Does this mean something you loved the year before you turn into a teenage? Well if I remember getting AC/DC’s then new album Blow Up Your Video which I really wanted at the time and the single was Heatseeker
